Cutting People

Fact #1: Noah's Dad likes to cut people.  He does it for a living.
Fact #2: The only two people who have cut Noah's Dad's hair for the past four years, or so, have been Noah's Mom and Noah's Dad.
Fact #3: Noah's Mom has been known to get a trim from Noah's Dad, as well.

So, with all this in mind, who else would give Noah his first haircut?  At the age of 18 months and 5 days, we couldn't put it off any more.  His mullet was out of control.

Noah likes to have his hair brushed or combed.  In fact, if he can find his Mom's brush, sometimes he'll just start brushing his own hair.  That meant that at the beginning, he didn't protest a whole lot.  He was quite content, actually, despite those bangs hanging down in his eyes.

But then he started to sense that something was awry.  "Wait a second...  why are Mama and Dada taking pictures of me as I get my hair combed?"

"Abort!  Abort!  Run away!  This is weird.  Get me out of here!!!"

Fortunately, this was a team sport.  At the beginning, Mama cut, and Dada entertained - with the help of the camera.  Noah can rarely resist a camera, after all.

He didn't even know what hit him.  Before he knew it, the bangs were gone...

Then the hair hanging down over his ears...

He was confused... "Wait a second... didn't that stuff used to be on my head?  And wait a second... where are my pants?!?!"

But we explained to him that we are professionals, and really, he couldn't have trusted his styling to anyone more capable than us, and that set his mind at ease... but just a little.  He still didn't trust us fully, so he kept trying to show us exactly what his vision was for the new style.  "Just comb it like this, Mama, and give it a little more body," he kept telling us.  "I need volume!  It's all about the conditioner!"

And then Dada took over with the cutting, while Mama entertained.  Her entertaining didn't involve the camera as much, so it wasn't as well documented, but here's one shot for posterity's sake.

Noah felt so light and free after the cut was over.  He blissfully bid farewell to his baby locks and embraced his new boyhood style.  Look how happy he is!

And after any good hair cut, you've gotta get rid of those straggling pieces of hair, so a bath was in order...

But don't worry... We left plenty of hair on top...

For a high-quality mohawk!
