Turkey-Treat!

No, even though the title and date might make you think this is going to be a post about Thanksgiving, it's not.  It's just a sign that slacker Dad is a month behind again in the blog posting.  So with that being said, obviously this is a post about... Halloween!

Last year's Halloween was relatively uneventful (http://babyegle.blogspot.com/2011/10/happy-halloween.html).  I mean, really, how much can a sick one-year-old who's not allowed to eat candy enjoy such an event?  And then when his parents went and tried to paint whiskers on his face?  That was just over-the-top!  This year would be different.  Noah was well... he would be able to walk around to a few more houses...  we might even let him sample a candy or two!

Before the big day, though, Libby wanted to get him in the mood, so they went to a pumpkin patch!

Noah got to go for a ride in a tractor...  and his obsession with tractors is probably second only to cousin Chandler's.  He was very mature about containing his enthusiasm during the photo shoot, but trust me... he was excited.

And at the end of the tractor-ride?  Pumpkins!!

And picking pumpkins was fun, too.  You know... the really important sit-on-the-pumpkins-to-find-the-absolute-best-one test!  Who wouldn't enjoy that?

Animals are fun. Especially when you're allowed to touch them... and feed them... and they lick your hand and make you giggle uncontrollably!

And after a literal romp in the hay, Noah was ready... He was in the Halloween mood.  We practiced saying "Trick-or-Treat" (which inevitably came out as "Turkey-Treat" no matter how much we practiced).  And Noah even carved another pumpkin!

Libby found a delightful costume for our little monkey...

And assisted me in construction of the all-important yellow hat.

Our curious little boy walked up and down our whole block, proudly yelling "Turkey-Treat" at each door.  He got confused after he got candy and I tried to encourage him to say, "Thank you."

Noah: "Turkey-treat!"
(gets candy)
Me: "What do you say, Noah?"
Noah: "Turkey-treat!"

Eh... you win some, and you lose some.  Speaking of winning some and losing some, it was impressive how many - or rather, how few - people were able to identify our duo as specifically Curious George and the Man the Yellow Hat.  Some people thought we were just a monkey and the Silly Looking Guy Carrying Him Around.

Ironically, our little Monkey got a package from Portland family with nothing other than a stuffed monkey holding an orange jack-o-lantern bag.  Instant best-friends!

And afterwards, Noah sat down and was very curious about all of his loot.  He got to sample a few of the candies, but we were happy that there were enough non-candy options to satisfy his Curious side and prevent an all-night-long sugar rush.

Dancing Like Great Grandma Egle

If you've ever seen Great Grandma Egle dance, you'll notice that the resemblance is uncanny...
