We never did post about our long layover in Amsterdam on our way back from Bahrain! We purposefully had an overnight flight from Bahrain to Amsterdam, so that the kiddo could sleep. Then we had the entire day in Amsterdam and left again for the USA in the evening. So, here's a brief synopsis of our Awesome Amsterdam Adventure.
After a confusing hour in the airport, trying to figure out the right train to take and how to pay for it (since our credit cards aren't fancy enough), eventually we figured out how to get downtown.

We could have opted for a canal tour, but we decided a bus tour would be more practical... easier on and off. That way we could get an overview of the city and also hop off for a few adventures.

The canals were really pretty. Very practical, and fun. I wouldn't mind getting a houseboat and setting up shop there.
We bypassed the Heineken brewery in favor of a hearty lunch. Sorry if our priorities seem out-of-whack!
