Last Day!

Noah and Mama finally come back home tomorrow... so, in honor of the last day of Dada being a bachelor, Noah wanted me to summarize all of the exciting things you've learned about him this week:

First, he's a really good hitter, in addition to his throwing abilities.

Though, he does get distracted at times.

And he's super smart, and knows all sorts of physics.

Hitting the Books

Since Noah's not immediately headed to the Majors, he's been studying hard.  We talked again about his future, and every day after hitting the batting cages, he heads to the library to study for a bit (before going to the community college to teach a few classes).  Lately, he's been really getting into the physics of light.  He's fascinated about how photons of light have properties of both waves and particles.  He was teaching me about the wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum and how we can only see a small fraction of all the different waves.  Here's a snippet of the lecture he was giving me:

Why Don't the Tigers Call Him Up Now?

The Tigers haven't run away with first place, yet.  They will.  Know that they will.  But you would think, based on the evidence that has been presented here - yes, evidence that you have seen with your very own eyes - that they would've offered him a huge multi-million-dollar contract to immediately sign with them and help out.  Their starting pitching has been a little shaky at times, and Prince Fielder has only hit a handful of homeruns...  So, why on earth are the Tigers dragging their feet?

Well, it's time I reveal the whole truth.  They did send some representatives to our house.  Who am I kidding, they weren't "representatives."  Mike Illitch, owner of the Tigers, came over to see what all the hype was about.  He said he got hundreds of emails after the post of Noah hitting got posted.  We sat down, had some long talks, crunched some numbers, and then he wanted to see for himself.  Seems that Noah got a little gun-shy.  Not a lot gun-shy, but a little.

The end result was that Mr. Illitch said Noah's pretty much a shoe-in for next year's starting line-up, but he wants us to get Noah a real horsey first, so that Noah learns how much trouble they are to take care of, and then he'll lose interest and be able to focus on batting again.  It looks like Detroit will have to wait one more year for an Egle to wear the Old English D and lead the Tigers to another World Series Championship.

Mmmm... Pizza!

Not only does Noah share his father's love for baseball, but also his fine taste in food.  He does enjoy his fruits and vegetables (which is undoubtedly due to his father's stubbornness about not letting him eat anything even remotely sweet until he had a very firm foundation in eating nothing but veggies), but really... who could pass up his very own adult-sized piece of Buddy's pizza when given the chance?

A Jock with Brains

He can hit the ball a mile and he can throw a wicked curveball...  a lot of girls would go for that.  But that's not enough for Noah.  He is more well-rounded than that.  We've had talks about his future.  He knows that he can't just rely on his golden-ticket to the major leagues to sustain him well into his retirement years.  He knows that even with great doctor parents that one injury could derail his career without warning, so he's made back-up plans.  Without getting into the specifics of the Nobel and Pulitzer Prizes he plans on winning, he just wanted to show off how culturally competent he is, and that he doesn't restrict himself to just knowing only measly little language...  And look at how he even corrects his father's poor pronunciation!

Week-long drought?

Noah went with Mama to Portland... They left Dada behind for a week to fend for himself. So, I suppose that means everyone will be really sad that there are no updates to the blog, right?

Wait a second! That's NOT right! Noah purposefully did lots of really cute things in the days leading up to his departure, so that there would be a plethora of material upon which his Dad could draw to keep the masses entertained. In fact, every day of his absence will be marked with a new video post, so that his adoring fans will never even notice the separation of Noah and his publicist.

To get the week off to a strong start, Noah looked back at his previous posts. He realized that the last time anyone commented was in January. Who was it? It was one of his girlfriends, Eva. Well, more specifically, it was Eva's Mom, commenting on her behalf. And that comment pointed out how impressed Eva was with his pitching abilities. But Noah doesn't want his girls to think he's an American-league-only sort of pitcher... no, no, no... This little big man can hit, too! Think Justin-Verlander-meets-Prince-Fielder...

Gearing up for Portland...

Noah and his mother will soon be going to visit Grandma and Grandpa in Portland.  As of now, the forecast there isn't exactly ideal...  well, not for normal people.  For an 18-month-old boy, it might just be perfect, though.  Michigan gave Noah a little bit of a sneak peek of what likely lies in store for him out west:
